Ever been to a college trip? Sound fun, right? It really was when our law college decided to take us on a Mumbai-Delhi-Agra-Mumbai Trip.

A total of 60 students from 5 different batches went together on this trip. As I was one of the Student Co-Ordinator, I have experienced firsthand what it is like to collect the details, documents, payment etc. from 60 people!

P.S: Next time you go for a college trip show some respect to the organizers and faculty. It is not easy.

After months of planning and organizing, we finally took this trip in the 2nd week of December. So let me tell you all about this experience in this blog, everything from the start till the end, where we stayed, places we visited, what we did along with lots of pictures.

It is a long one but an interesting read. Without further ado, let’s dive right into it.

The journey began on 7th of December 2022. We boarded our train from Mumbai Central in the evening. The next morning at 10 AM we reached Hazrat Nizamuddin station in Delhi and from there we loaded in our bus and reached our hotel.

Delhi was cold and chilly but not freezing cold. We were welcomed by a perfect vacation climate.

Day 1–8th Dec’ 22

We checked in at Hotel Pitrashish Pride near the Indira Gandhi Int’l airport and were allotted rooms for a group of 4. The hotel was good with clean spacious rooms, decent service and good food.

After freshening up and lunch we left for sight-seeing.

On this day we went to two places viz India Gate and Sarojini Market

India Gate:

En-route India gate, I wasn’t excited about it and thought of it as just another tourist attraction like the gateway of India. But it was certainly way more beautiful than I had expected. Its entire construction, the pond, bridge, garden and the staircase leading to it, everything was very well maintained. India gate was built as a tribute to the martyred soldiers of World War 1. Their names are engraved all across its arch.

India Gate

We clicked hundreds of pictures and got one clicked from a photographer too. We also went close to admire its beauty, touched and felt its stone wall and also paid our respects to the Amar Javan Jyoti. After spending the entire evening there till the sunset, we headed to the Sarojini market

Sarojini market:

The Sarojini market was like the Colaba causeway and Fashion Street in Mumbai but with 5 times more cheap prices. So yeah, shopaholic’s heaven!

All of us hoarded bags and bags from shopping. There were sweaters, jackets, and denim clothes at just 200 Rs, jerseys and T-shirts at 100 Rs, jewellery at less than 50 Rs and much more. Some people said that these are the rejected pieces from brand, and some told they’re used clothes. But who knows the truth, so we focused on shopping.

We had the infamous “Delhi ke momos” from here too and I would say, they are overrated.

Sarojini Market

Unfortunately, due to time constraints we were not able to browse through the entire market within our given deadline. We had to reach hotel in time for dinner.

The nights at hotel we fun, we went out for a stroll in the silent chilly lanes of Delhi, had midnight Chai, played Antakshari and dumb charades. We hardly slept and then again assembled at 8 AM ready for the next day.

Day 2 — 9th Dec’ 22

This was the day where I personally enjoy the most. This day we covered visited 4 places — Red fort, Chandni chowk, Jama masjid, Parliament House and Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah

Red Fort:

The fort was huge! It astonishes me how they managed to build such architecture with so much precision centuries ago. There were many halls and buildings, like Diwan-E-khas, Diwan-E-Aam, Hayat Bakhsh (garden & pavilions) Rang Mahal, Naubat Khana, Chhatta Bazar, Khas mahal, Museum, Salimgarh. We, however had very little time to spend here so couldn’t catch sight of all these places properly. After spending roughly 1 hour we headed to see Chandni Chowk.

If you get to visit red Fort and like historical places, I would suggest spending an entire day here.

Chandni Chowk & Jama Masjid

Since we had only one hour to see the entire place, we decided to hire a rikshaw for 1 hour at Rs. 300. The rikshaw driver acted as out tour guide and took us to all the places like Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Sona Bazar, the book market and all the nearby places. We had Kulfi and Daulat ki Chat from there. One thing I regret not doing is having Chhole Kulchhe. Maybe some other time.

Jama Masjid & Our Riskhaw

After returning from Chandni chowk, we all assembled at our meeting spot, had packed lunch and proceeded towards Parliament house.

Parliament House:

The entry into the Parliament House was a tedious high security procedure. We weren’t allowed to take anything inside except our IDs. On entry we were directly taken to the conference room where we were addressed by the former director of PRIDE (Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies). As only limited access was permitted for visits, we did not get the opportunity to see many places inside. We left after being served high tea and snacks at the cafeteria.

Nizamuddin Dargah

We reached there in the evening, paid our respects, and offered prayers. The Dargah has shrines of Sufi Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and his disciple Hazrat Amir Khusro. Most of us irrespective of the religion visited the holy place. We felt a different vibe and warmth there.

Outside the dargah there were many small restaurants serving barbecue. So we decided to have some snacks. And Oh My God, the food quality was top-notch compared to the rates. In Mumbai, one can not find such delicious food at this affordable price. We had the most delicious chicken tikka, mutton seek and halwa paratha from there and then headed back to hotel.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah

The night at the hotel was again full of games and fun. Also, we had to pack our bags as next morning we had to assemble for breakfast and check out at 8 A.M.

Day 3 — 10th Dec’ 22

One of the main reasons of our Delhi Trip was visiting the Hon’ble Supreme Court, which we did on Day 3.

The Supreme Court of India:

The Supreme Court organizes a guided tour on 2nd and 4th Saturdays. One can register themselves online and seek the tour permissions, after scrutiny their entry is allowed. 60 Students from our college were registered for the tour in the same way. We reached the entry gate at 10 a.m. sharp and completed all the required formalities of collecting our entry passes, depositing our phones and security checks. Thereafter, our group was assigned a guide who carried out our tour.

She explained that the entire structure of the premises is in the shape of a balance, also the significance of a mother and child statue present in fron of the Chief Justice’s court. We then saw the 5 courtrooms in the central building with the CJI’s court in the center and 2 courts on it’s either side. We also saw the library which is one of Asia’ biggest libraries and accommodates lakhs of books. Entire architecture and grandeur of the Court is something that cannot be explained.

If you are a Delhiite, I would highly recommend taking the guided tour of Supreme Court. It’s free.

Words and pictures cannot do justice to its magnificence and the vibe of being present in the highest court of the country, but this video below covers all the information that we were provided during the visit.

After exiting the SC, we went to Jama Masjid and had lunch at Al-Jawahar Restaurant. The food was okay, but the dessert was delicious. We then left for Agra. The journey to Agra by road was approximately 4–5 hours long. We took a stop at Shiv Dhaba on the way, had the best Chai we had had on the entire trip and some hot fresh pakoras. Mouth-watering!

On reaching, we checked in our new hotel in Agra— Hotel Avalon Palms, had dinner, danced to the DJ and celebrated our last night together of the trip.

Day 4— 11th Dec ‘22

On the last day of our trip in Agra, we saw Taj Mahal and Agra fort. After the breakfast, we checked out, loaded our luggage in the bus and headed to Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal:

I was most excited about visiting Taj Mahal because I had never been there, and of course because it was one of the Wonders of the world. Since it was a Sunday, the place was crowded, and it took a little longer to reach the entry gate. But once we entered, its view struck me hard.

What beauty!

Yes, I wanted to click my pictures here in all beautiful poses and angle, but I wanted to just sit there and soak in its beauty more. And this is what I did. I sat down at a silent spot and admired each part, its intricate designs, the carvings of colored stones imported from all over the world. We also visited the Mosque and the Museum there.

1. Entry ticket coin 2. Entry Gate 3. Carvings on the wall

Trust me when I say this that all the pictures on internet and the videos will not give the slightest idea of its real beauty. To feel it and know it one must see it with their own eyes. And when you do, you’ll agree with me too because the way that it is built is mind-wrecking and jaw-droppingly amazing. It was so crowded yet somehow, I felt at peace there.

The view ❤

If you plan on visiting it, I will highly recommend NOT going on a Sunday and spending the entire day there. 1–2 hours are not enough. Also having a good tour guide will be beneficial for knowing in-depth about its history.

After leaving from Taj Mahal, we went for lunch at Priya restaurant near Taj Ganj and had a delicious meal. After lunch, some of us went to see the Agra fort while a part of the group decided to go to the Agra market. I chose to see the fort.

Agra Fort:

I won’t elaborate anything about this because I filmed everything that our tour guide explained and what we saw there. Here is that video 👇🏻

One thing that surprised us all is the Optical illusion of viewing Taj Mahal. It appeared nearer from the farther spot. Watch here ⬇️

We then bought some Agra famous sweet “petha” which was really good, way better than most petha. Sadly, I forgot the name of the shop from where I bought it. But it was a Govt., approved 100% natural ingredient sweet shop.

Never buy petha from any local shop outside Taj mahal. Buy it only from a government authorized shop for a good quality sweet.

After sweet shopping and some snacks, we directly headed to Mathura station to board our train. We reached home next day 24 hours later.

With this our trip came to an end. But our memories are with us for life!

That’s it from my side. I hope you enjoyed reading. If you did, do leave claps generously. It means a lot :)
